Common CD Key Errors

Common CD Key Errors

Short guide on how to solve the common CD Key errors one may encounter with Battlefield Vietnam.

This is a common error, and you will get it when you try and join servers. It likely means that something has happened with the registry where BFV saves your CD Key. You can attempt to rectify this yourself by doing the following:

Navigate to your game directory, usually located in the following directory:

C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield Vietnam

Or

C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\Battlefield Vietnam.

Once inside your game directory, look for the folder titled "eReg" and go into this folder.

Once inside the folder, look for the application titled "Battlefield Vietnam_code", once found right click on it and click on "Run As Admin". It will prompt you to insert your CD key again. Insert it and follow the prompts. That should fix it.

If the above method still has not fixed it, you can try and manually add the CD key into the registry if you feel comfortable doing so. The guide to do this is below.

Step 1: Open your registry editor, do this by right-clicking on your start menu button then click on "run". In the pop up, type in "regedit" and run the command, it will ask you for administrator permissions, click allow / yes.

Step 2: Navigate the following directory tree:

Computer\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\
Electronic Arts\
EA Games\
Battlefield Vietnam\
ergc

Or if you are running a 32-bit windows system:

Computer\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
SOFTWARE\
Electronic Arts\
EA Games\
Battlefield Vietnam\
ergc

Step 3: Once inside the "ergc" folder, on the right hand side you will see file titled "Default" and next to it will be where your CD Key should be. If it is not there, double click on the file titled "Default" and where it says "Value Data" type in your CD Key without the spaces (eg. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx). After this is done, the issue should be resolved.

NOTE: If the above directories do not exist, you will then need to manually create them. To do that, follow this guide:

Step 1: Establish whether you have a 64-bit or 32-bit windows installation. To do this, open your file explorer and go to your Local Disk C. Inside your Local Disk C folder, you will see the following:

Program Files
Program Files x86
Users

If you have both Program Files & Program Files x86 then you have a 64-bit windows system. If you only have Program Files, then you have a 32-bit windows install.

Step 2: Go back to your registry editor, and we are going to follow the directory tree mention above, assuming we're using 64-bit windows:

Computer\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
SOFTWARE\
WOW6432Node\

Now right click on the "WOW6432Node" folder and navigate to "New" then "Key", rename this key to "Electronic Arts" and repeat the same step to create the following directory:

Electronic Arts\
EA Games\
Battlefield Vietnam\
ergc

Once the "ergc" folder is created, right click on it and then navigate to "New" then "String Value", name this String Value to "Default".

Step 3: Double click on the "Default" string value we've created, and input your CD Key, again without the spaces (eg. xxxxxxxxxxxxx) and that should be it.

This is also a common error if you have just installed the game and tried to join. However, if you have been playing for sometime, it's best to check if you are banned by visiting the Ban List forum here: https://www.helloclan.eu/bfv/banlist

It is generally caused by using a CD Key obtained from the internet. Because of our long history with hackers and ban evaders, it's quite safe to say that a large amount of internet CD Keys are banned on our server.

This however is not a cause for concern, in fact we implore our players, to use your own CD Key. Please contact us and we will provide you with a new CD Key that is uniquely yours.

If at any stage you feel uncomfortable attempting any of the above methods, please do not hesitate to get in touch via DM and I can talk you through it personally.
